14 parcels abandoned were cleaned up with assistance from 58 community volunteers and some contractual assistance to removing cars and debris.

Water Signs and Drafting Site

Created a water source ID sign accepted by emergency personnel and use them in communities with no hydrant systems to assist fire personal to resources.

Defensible Space Brochures: Development of Fuel Model Brochures

The BCFS developed and printed three versions of the "Homeowners Guide to Firewise Landscaping" This brochure has been adopted for use statewide by the California Fire Safe Council.

Defensible Space Media Campaign: TV, Radio and Billboard Campaign

This program resulted in a 500% increase in hits on the BCFSC Website.

Firewise Building Materials Demo Video

This video provides homeowners with practical steps to make their home safer from wildland fire.

Northeast Oroville Community Education and Outreach

This developed a community "demonstration site" to educate homeowners about thinning vegetation, also a booth was set up and many residents received brochures on how to create their defensible space around the home

Special Needs Assistance Program: SNAP Packet Materials

BCFSC is a member of the Elder Services Disaster Preparedness Committee and there was a need to update the SNAP card in the packets to be reflective, this funding accomplished that and more.

Rural-Urban Interface Challenges, Matching Funds, Conference with RC&D

This excellent conference was a joint effort with the RC&D. There were about 100 participants who participated in the workshop and bus tour of selected project sites.

Trail Days: Matching Funds

Matching funds grant against an open BLM Chipper Program Plus Grant, this funding allowed Trail Days to be a success in May 2005.

Defensible Space Fuel Model Brochures

Provided the time to research, develop and produce Grassland, Brushland and Timberland Defensible Space Brochures that have now gone state wide.
